‘FG Committed To Funding Research Institutes’

The Federal
Government has restated its resolve in the development of improved seed varieties and scientific innovation in the country’s agricultural research institutes.
The Minister of Agriculture, Dr Akinwumi Adesina gave the indication through Dr Usman Hammed during the foundation laying ceremony of the National  Root Crops Research Institute (NRCRI) in Osun State, recently.
Dr Adesina explained the commitment of the government towards making Nigeria an agriculturally industrialized economy adding that this would be done through ensuring food sufficiency and enhancing famer’s maximum profit.
Also speaking, Chairman, Governing Board of NRCRI, Chief Oluwole Oludaisi, decried that the 61-year old institution was only struggling to consolidate its milestone achievements.
He said such a process would be enhanced through the instrumentality of the policies being put in place by the governing board.
Oludaisi further stated that 3 business  units have been set up by the NRCRI Board under a newly registered NRCRI holdings, which would help the institute deploy the results of its abundant scientific achievements, as well as the break through towards enhancing its revenue base.
