Christians Urged To Influence Society

Christians in Nigeria have been advised to come out open and place their influence on the society with a view to saving the Christian faith and the country as a whole.
Leader of the Port Harcourt Central District of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, Pastor Anyalebechi Nwunukwe said the issues in the media were rather worrisome and lacking in the prized Christian values.
Speaking at the “Publicity Week” of the Church, Pastor Nnunukwe said the Church cannot afford to sit back while homosexuality, pornography, cult activities and other strange cultures invade the country.
Nnunukwe, who led the church through special prayers, thanked God for answering the prayers of the saints and bringing the Ebola disease and terrorism under control.
While asking parents to discipline their children with love, he said parents must take interest in what the children do with the Internet and with their phones.
Earlier, the communication leader of the district, Bro. Dagogo Clinton had said that his department would, in accordance with directives from the conference, present weekly media report along with the periodic lectures on communication for members.
The occasion, which also co-incided with the 13th Sabbath of the church, came to a head with a sermon by the Leader of the Adventist Men’s Organisation for the district, Elder Emmanuel Akirika, who spoke on a message he titled: “Forgive One Another”.
Elder Akirika reminded members of the virtue of forgivness, and said that unforgiveness is one of the excess luggage that militates against spiritual growth.
“In fact, with this excess load, it will be difficult to join the heavenly train”, he said.
