Bayelsa Utd Stops League Leaders, 2-0

Kano Pillars’ aim of
extending their lead on top of the Nigeria Premier league table was dashed as they lost 2-0 to Bayelsa United in Benin City on Wednesday.
However, Pillars still set the pace with 47 points from 28 games, while Bayelsa now have 36 points from 28 matches.
On-form striker Joseph Egharevba opened the scoring in the 15th minute, when he fired a shot into the net from 16 yards. He now has four goals to his credit this season.
Oghogho Oduokpe was the Super Sub when he came off the bench to double the home team’s lead and seal the victory with a 68th minute goal when he tapped in a cross from close range.
Pillars’ goalkeeper Theophilus Afelokhai made a save off Eric Frimpong’s powerful low drive in the 43rd minute.
Bayelsa defender Adeleye Aniyikaye was substituted in the 50th minute with Ikechukwu Gabriel after he suffered a leg injury.
