AFCON Qualifier: Fans To Be Screened For Ebola In Calabar

Tidesports has learnt that
spectators for the  2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matchbetween Nigerian’s Super Eagles and  Congo’s Red Devilstomorrow will be screened for the Ebola Virus Disease.
The Ebola Virus outbreak in Nigeria has accounted for seven deaths so far and visiting Congo has expressed concerns about the disease in the country.
“We are aware of the deadly effect of Ebola and because of this, we have mapped out strategies to ensure that all spectators who come to watch the Eagles are tested for the virus before they are allowed into the stadium,” said Cross River State sports commissioner Patrick Ugbe.
Tomorrow’s  match venue the UJ Esuene Stadium Calabar has a capacity for about 15,000 spectators and hosted the country’s qualifying matches for the 2014 World Cup.
Other West African countries like Guinea, Sierra Leone and Liberia, who are hardest hit by Ebola, have banned football matches till further notice.
And the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has also moved Nations Cup qualifying matches from those countries to other safer venues.
