Workers’ Welfare,My Priority – Eyiba

sioner for Local Government  Affairs, Mr, Samuel  Eyiba has said  that workers  welfare  and total well-being are top priority in his leadership agenda.
The commissioner said this last Thursday, during an official  tour to Akinima the  council’s Headquarters of Ahoada-West  Local Government  Area (LGA).
Eyiba stated his preparedness to partner  with the council on ways of  moving the area forward  in line with community development.
Emphasizing  on sanity in LGA administration, he charged the  Head of Personnel to deal decisively with any erring staff, insisting that workers must retire when due.
He also charged them (workers) on the need to do their work diligently  and efficiently, adding that accountability should be viewed  as part of the LGA’s culture.
On the issue of procurement, he said due process must be followed to the fullest, while calling on the caretaker committee chairman, Hon. Karibor Wilson,  to also take care of the dwindling revenue of the council.
Improve your internally generated  revenue, because the record is not encouraging. Proper  marriage, birth  and death registrations should also be looked into”, he said.
The CTC chairman, Hon. Wilson, who regretted the  lackadaisical attitude of  junior staff in the council stating the need for improvement in order to fit into the new system.
He pointed out that it was regrettable  to sight them  ( junior workers)  in their  numbers only on a pay day.
While  assuring the commissioner and his team of an improved store system, he said that the issue of IGR would be handled  urgently.
He, however, called on all the council worker to be  up and doing inorder to keep the ship afloat.
It would be recalled that Mr. Eyiba, has been touring round the LGAs and proffering solutions to challenges in local council administration.
