SIT Thrills Audience With A Husband’s Wife

Sunday in Theatre (SIT),
a family entertainment outfit under the umbrella of Spur on stage (SOS) last Sunday 18th August at the Atlantic Hall of Hotel President Port Harcourt thrilled guests with an exciting drama titled A husband’s wife written by Tyrone Terrence and directed by Ovunda Ihunwo.
The drama featured Ovunda Ihunwo a lecturer in the Theatre Arts and film studies department of university of Port Harcourt who played the role of Femi and Bolu Ola who acted as Tonic, Femi’s wife others included Ebi Okpalefe (Design Consultant) AND Lilian Nwaokoro (stage manager) among others.
The drama is about Femi and Toni’s spousal relationship which is suffering from the impact of the unpleasant excuse of “middle crisis.” After twenty two years of marriage, the couple had  raised a great home with children studying or, and working abroad. They had also built their distinct careers to successful heights.
In recent times Tonic, the husband’s wife has been channelling much energy to her career which gives her greater joy than anything else. The much attention and love for her job has now become a cause of concern and worry to her  husband as this seems to affect proper communication and understanding in their home especially with regards to primary  spousal duties.
Femi thinks he can no longer get the desired fund as he used to, when they were newly wedded and thus reaches out for an alternative emotional exploit. He finds solace in the arms of a Younger lady who turns out to be their daughters older fund. As the can of worms opens, he is caught in a cross road of indecision either to move out of the house or genuinely crave for forgiveness and stay back as Tonic will have none of it.
Speaking with The Tide entertainment shortly  after the event the producer of the drama, Mr Isijola disclosed that A husbands wife is the fifth Edition of their drama series and preaches unity in the families devoid of violence. He noted that Sunday in theatre is a family drama which teaches moral values and at the same time entertains the guests.
He stressed that so far, the audience has been on the increase  since the inception of their family drama series. According to him, profit making is not the driving force rather they want to be consistent and sustain the tempo and when this in done they can now decide to make profit to take care of their financial obligations.
The director of the play Mr. Ovunda Ihunwo stressed that the drama emphasizes on the need to keep the family fresh and attractive. He urged couples to ensure unity and up date their relationship in order to keep the sanctity of marriage. According to him marriage is like an empty box, what you put in it is what you will get.
He disclosed  that so far, the SIT has presented stage dramas every mouth which include Nerves, Adam’s Family and a husband’s wife, while the 6th Edition is a play by J.P. Clark titled September 2014 at the Atlantic Hall of Hotel Presidential Port Harcourt.
He noted that the hilarious domestic drama will be a bang.
