The Rivers State
Government  has been called upon  to re-activate  the defunct school to land authority.
An agricultural science teacher, Mr. Micah Uchendu, who made the call while speaking to air correspondent recently, said the action would help  young school leavers engage in farming.
According to him, most students at the secondary level does not  show interest in farming, adding that  such interest could only blossom when  they were out of school without any job.
The agric teacher who reiterated the benefit of school to land to young school leavers in the 70s, said he knows of a number persons who worked at the school to land farms then who have established their own farms.
He further  explained  that after reactivation the  outfit should be privatised through a private public partnership (PPP) to enable it function as a business  venture.
On the establishment of the Rivers State Songhai  Initiative at  Bunu, in the Tai Local Government Area of the state, Mr. Uchendu said the investment  by the government was worth while.
According to him, indigenes of the area  who have availed themselves of the trainings given at the  farm almost free of charge have benefitted .
He said since government was a continuous process, any successor to the present government could work towards  activating the school to land authority.
