The Nigeria Police
Force (NPE) has started issuing share certificates  on mortgage to officers and men of the force across board.
The acting Inspector General of Police, Suleman Abba who began the issuance of the mortgage share certificates at the weekend in Abuja said the share is a fallout from the monthly deductions made from the salaries of policemen for the purpose of mortgage.
He said the issuance of the share certificate has allayed fears that the monthly deductions from the salaries of officers for mortgage would be used for meaningful venture.
Abba noted that the deductions made from salaries of policemen are being deposited with the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN), adding that they are also the originator of the share certificates that are being issued to police officers and men.
Henceforth he said the certificate would now serve as a guarantee that the home ownership programme of police officers is on course, and that deductions made from their salaries for that purpose is not in vain.
Abba assured that the home ownership scheme of police officers and the certificate of share form the FMBN so issued is the mortgage they need to own their houses any where in the country.
By this moves, it is expected and hoped that officers and men of the Nigerian Police force can own their houses in any state or city of their choice as promised by police authorities.
He also said that the home ownership programme was designed by Goodluck Jonathan administration to tackle the housing challenges of public officers.
