The two cricket
pitches in Port Harcourt, Rivers State which have been under construction have been completed and are ready for the commencement of the 2014 Senior Cricket League.
Head Coach of the Rivers State Cricket Association, Tonye Timiladi, who disclosed this yesterday in an interview with Tidesports in Port Harcourt said that his team has already commenced training.
According to him, the team has commenced training ahead of the forthcoming 2014 Senior Cricket League scheduled to commence October this year.
The pitches are at the Enitona High School, Borokiri, Port Harcourt and the University of Port Harcourt, Choba.
He said that the team chose to train at the UNIPORT venue for security reasons saying that the one at Enitona is closer but not safe for players.
“The Enitona pitch is not safe for us to train, because, hoodlums around the area go there to smoke and at times behave funny towards our men (players) and this scares players from going to train at the pitch.
He further said that the state’s team is preparing well in order to win laurels in the forthcoming national league competition.
