PDP Guber Aspirant Targets Brick House
A marine expert and
philanthropist in Rivers State, Captain Sunday Nwankwo has indicated interest to contest next year’s governorship election in the state on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
He, however, said he would consult more to seek the people’s support and blessing.
Speaking during a recent tour of the Mba Clan to seek the people’s blessing, he disclosed that people of Etche had not occupied the office of the governor since the creation of the state.
Said Nwankwo, “we will not jump the gun, we will still have to consult”.
He explained that as a politician, he would abide by the rules and regulations of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), maintaining that party leadership had to give final approval for campaigns.
The marine expert therefore urged all supporters to be hopeful as he will not disappoint them, imploring them to be steadfast in their prayers and support.
Meanwhile, over 30 socio political groups including the Igbo Clan Support Group have pledged their support for Captain Nwankwo’s guber aspiration.
President of Igbo Clan Support Group, Chris Anabaraonye said that, “we want our own, Chief Nwankwo to become the next governor of Rivers State”.
He stressed that Captain Nwankwo was a man of peace and stood for the progress of Rivers State.
A representative of United Rivers Assembly, Ubama Jacob, stated that the Etche-born guber aspirant had demonstrated that he was capable of governing the state considering his philanthropic activities and support for youths and women.
Also speaking, a representative of Non-Indigenes Women Group for Nwankwo, Franca Ogechi, said Captain Nwankwo had displayed sterling leadership qualities that needed to be shown to the state.
In her words, “I have so much about you and the good works you are doing. We will stand by you come rain, come shine. Already, we see you become our governor”.
