Pay Attention To Health, FAAN Manager Tells Staff
Following cases of Ebola
fever disease and the rate at which people slump and die in recent times, the Regional General Manager of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) South/South East Mrs. Ebele Okoye has urged staff to pay great attention to their conditions.
Addressing staff at the flag off of a three-day health sensitization programme at the Port Harcourt International Airport, Omagwa, Mr. Okoye lamented the lackadaisical attitude of many people to the issue of healthy living and seeking early medical attention.
Mrs. Okoye described as unfortunate a situation where people wait till it was too late for help to come their way before they voice out their health condition.
She maintained that medical personnel did not have the power to know if one was ill or not if such person did not come up to complain and also they would not force anyone to come for treatment when such people shunned.
Head of Aviation Medical Department in the PHIA, Dr Bolanle Olatunji, disclosed that many people are actually sick of one ailment or the other but they shield away from seeking medial attention and counsel because of apparent ignorance of what medical check up is all about.
Dr. Olatunyi noted that regular medical check up could save people’s life and could save them money too.
She explained that the sensitization programme was to encourage them not to resort to self-medication and to avail themselves to medical services available in the aviation medical clinic in the airport.
Head of Aviation Medical Clinic said the medial facilities had been transformed from what it use to be in the past and that staff should avail themselves of the opportunity to benefit from the services available at the clinic.
