One Killed In Cult Clash In Ogoni
One person has been
killed and several others injured in a suspected cult clash between the Dewell and Degbam at Gure, in the Khana Local Government Area.
Sources within the community who gave the name of the dead person as Christian Wuna also said that his killers also chopped off his head and went away with it.
According to the source, the deceased was among several others that patronised a drinking bar allegedly owned by one madam Nwiwale.
The Tide also learnt that the headless body of the deceased had been deposited at a mortuary in Bori, headquarters of the local government area.
An indigene of the community who spoke under condition of anonymity described the incident as one case too many, stressing that the people now live in fear of possible reprisal attack by the rival Degbam group.
Another indigene of the community also told The Tide that, some persons were considering leaving the community following the incident.
According to him, there is need for heavy security in the area as well as other parts of Ogoni.
He further said that apart from Gure, other communities in Khana were also affected by the cult activities and urged the government for support.
Effort to get the reaction of the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) proved abortive as he did not reply the text message sent to him concerning the incident.
