The Nigerian Bar Asso
ciation  said it has inaugurated  its six storey, fully serviced house on the Victoria Island, Lagos on Tuesday last week.
A statement by the association quoted the NBA  President,  Mr. Okey Wali as saying that the house  was built through a build, operate and transfer agreement, which the association entered  into with Stablini Visioni Limited, a company owned by Mr. Wale Babalakin.
According to the statement land on which the house now stands was undeveloped for a long times, Wali commended Babalakin who he described as the pride of the legal profession, for the role he played  in turning the place around.
He said, “I must thank our colleague,in Dr. Wale Babalakin (SAN), for what he has done I putting this up in collaboration with the NBA. I thank  Wali for the he has put into this”.
Responding, Babalakin observed that the dream  would have remained unrealised but for Wali’s  determination and doggedness in creating an access path to it.
Babalakin also thanked the Director General of the Nigerian Law School, Dr. Tahir Mamman and the Chairman of the Council of  Legal Education, Hon. O.C.J. Okocha (SAN) for granting access to the new building through the law school premises.
He said, “This building was land locked. The only  way we could go in was we  creating the access you see now. And  with Wali’s determination and the support of the Director General of Law School and the chairman of Council of  Legal Education, it was made  possible.
“He (Wali) came to Lagos specifically  on a number of occasions, and I recollect with great  appreciation and  sometimes  nostalgia how we walked  round  this premises, not once, not twice, when we were trying  to identify  the entering into the  building.
“In  the same vein,  I want  to have our incoming president, Mr. Augustine Alegeh (SAN),  who is here today and who has just won a very convincing victory. I have no doubt he has the capacity, he has the mental fortitude and he has the determination  to push  the NBA to the next level.
Others  who witnessed the ceremony were  the incoming General Secretary of the NBA, Mr. Atam Osigwe, National Treasurer, Joyce Oduah, a former General  Secretary, Obi Okwusogu (SAN)  and an executive  committee, Mr. Osita  Okoro.
