NASU Threatens Strike Action Over Allowances
The Non-Academic
Staff Union (NASU) in Kogi State University, Ayangba has threatened to embark on strike following the non-compliance of an agreement reached with the management of the university in 2009.
In a statement, NASU chairman in the University Comrade Yesuf Audu said the union will embark on strike from Sunday August 17, if their demands are not met by the university authorities.
He said the strike action will be full blown until the university management implement the payment of the allowances due to the senior and junior non-teaching staff.
Audu said the university authorities has failed to pay eleven months arrears of staff minimum wage, stressing that some members of the union were not captured in the university’s pension plans.
The union chairman said members of the union have suffered in silence for too long in the university.
He urged the Kogi State government to wade into the matter and save the union members from untold hardships.
