Kickboxers Seek RSG’s Assistance

Kickboxing Association, (W.K.A.) Nigeria Chapter, Sensei Victor Bassey, has appealed to Rivers State Commissioner for Sports Hon. Fred Igwe to assist the body in the forthcoming programme, tagged 2014 Niger Delta “King of The Ring” scheduled to hold from 27 to 31 of this month, in Port Harcourt.
Bassey, made the appeal in an interview with Tidesports in Port Harcourt adding that the body is expecting about 21 officials during the tournament.
He specifically urged the State Commissioner of Sports to assist the body through provision of accommodation for the officials.
According to him, 24 States, Army, Airforce and Police teams including Ghana and Cameroun, are expected to participate in the competition.
He disclosed that the best male and female fighter would represent Nigeria in the world Kickboxing Championship tagged Unified World Championships in Italy, later this year.
According to him the programme would be organised by 37 World Kickboxing bodies in Italy from 28th October, adding that the competition is geared towards restoration of peace and unity in the Niger Delta region of the country.
