ICT Achievements Excite RIVCAS Rector

tion Technology (ICT) has been adjudged to be one of the achievements of the Rivers State College of Arts and Science, Port Harcourt.
This was revealed Tuesday by the Provost of the college, Dr. Hillary Wordu in an exclusive interview with The Tide in Port Harcourt.
He said that the institution could boast to rank among the best ICT-schools in the world due to its ICT-broad base learning.
Wordu, informed that most dealings in the school now are ICT-based, hence the overwhelming transparency in the Polytechnics.
He said that the college is currently in partnership with TRIAST an ICT company, to provide Internet services in the campus.
The Tide gathered that computer science was among the eight accredited and reaccredited courses in the institution, as to buttress its claims on ICT development.
CINFORES is also in its services to provide training and run its (RIVCAS) ICT Cyber Café, while the maximum Global Services handles both staff and students on AUTOCAD training.
The rector as he is now called, hinted that Arch card and other relevant software training would also be listed among the services maximum Global services in the campus.
He further reasoned that the internet services will not only serve as a learning platform, but a revenue spinner for the school, though did not immediately informed whether it would be opened to the public or not.
According to him, the school now enjoys ten computer work stations courtesy of the Petroleum Technological Association of Nigeria (PETAN) through partnership with total E&P some time in 2011.
He further said that another 30 computer work stations with solar power panel Assembly came its way via the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA).
Earlier, he lauded the Nigerian Communication Commission (NEC), and the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), over its separate efforts to contribute to the ICT growth of institution with their different commitment to donate lap tops and Desk tops in volumes.
