Group To Mobilise For PVC’s Distribution In Rivers
The Rivers Patriotic
Movement (RPM), formerly known as Rivers Youth Movement (RYM), has pledge to mobilise Rivers people for the forth-coming permanent voters card distribution exercise in the state.
Rising from an emergency meeting in Port Harcourt, the group, whose membership was drawn from the 23 local government areas of the state, said the change of the movement’s name had become necessary in order to broaden the scope and activities of the group to include non indigenes in its fold.
Meanwhile, the organisation has commenced a sensitisation programme to ensure the participation of the people in the forth-coming distribution of permanent voters’ card in the state.
The President General of the movement, Prince Fyneface Amaechi said that as an organisation with a mission to promote peace, development and good governance in the state, sensitising and mobilising the people towards their civic duties would empower the society to elect credible candidates into office in 2015.
Prince Amaechi promised that in the coming days, the movement would reinforce its LGA chapters and non-indigene forum for its upcoming convention.
He enjoined members to be committed and steadfast in their commitment to the cause of enthroning a people-oriented government in the state.
Also speaking, the General secretary of the movement, Barrister D.K. Tom-Douglas disclosed that the group will soon embark on peace campaign round the state.
