Go And Register, Okocha Urges Voters

Chief of Staff, Government House, Rivers State, Sir Tony Okocha has urged citizens of the state to collect their permanent voters’ card and participate in the upcoming voter’s registration exercise.
He gave the charge during a meeting with Butchers Union as part of a familiarization tour of the Port Harcourt Slaughter Complex yesterday in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area.
Okocha, who described butchers as important stakeholders in the agric sector, said members must engage in civic duties by participating in the upcoming voters’ registration and collect their permanent voters’ card.
Okocha observed that that was one way they can choose credible leaders who would lead them and make meaningful change in society.
While expressing appreciation to members of the Butchers Union for their support to the Amaechi-led government, Okocha urged them to throw their weight behind the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming elections.
Also speaking, Caretaker Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, Dr. Lawrence Chuku assured members of the union of the council’s support, stressing that government will continue to protect members from unnecessary harassment by hoodlums in the area.
On his part, the state Chapter Chairman of National Butchers Union, Alhaji Musa Baba Ahmed Owese thanked the Rivers State Governor, Rt Hon. Chibuike Amaechi for coming to their rescue.
Owese lamented the harassment faced by members of the union from the former council leadership and expressed the willingness of the union to work closely with the current leadership of Okocha and Chuku in Obio/Akpor.
In a related development, Sir Tony Okocha has joined the CTC chairman of Obio/Akpor to commission two borehole water schemes in the Federal Housing Estate Woji to provide potable drinking water for residents in the area.
Okocha decried the inability of the Federal Government to provide potable water for residents in its estate, reasoning that lack of potable water can endanger lives and worsen sanitation conditions.
In a thank you remark, Woman Leader of Residents in the estate, Mrs Edna Fioku commended Dr. Chuku for putting smiles on the faces of residents.
Fioku further pledged the commitment of the residents of the FHA Woji to vote for APC in the upcoming elections.
Consequently, Okocha has commissioned APC Secretariat in Ward Six Woji, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area.
The chief of staff, urged members to utilize the complex properly, by ensuring that various units and shades of members are giving equal treatment for landslide victory in next year’s elections.
