‘Giwa FC To Finish In Top Five’
Giwa FC coach, Duke Udi
has said that he hopes his team finishes within the top five in their first-ever season in the Nigerian top flight.
Giwa is currently placed eighth on the table with 35 points from 24 matches.
”I am sure that our premiership status is not under threat and with the number of games remaining, I make bold to say that Giwa will be among the top five teams on the table at the end of the season,” Udi told newsmen.
Last weekend, the Jos-based club fought hard before they eventually fell 1-0 at Enugu Rangers.
Dada Bitrus 25th minute goal proved to be the match winner at the Nnmadi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu.
However, Udi praised his youthful team for giving a good account of themselves against a top side like Rangers, stressing that the goal came as a result of temporary loss of concentration by his defenders.
”I am indeed very proud of our performance against Rangers,” he remarked.
”We are a very youthful side with a lot to learn in the league. Rangers are not a small side and for us to have contained them and conceded only one goal goes a long way to show that we are a team for the future.”
