Enyimba Hopeful Of NPFL Title
Coach Kadiri Ikhana
has said that he would lead Enyimba to win the Nigeria league title again this season.
Ikhana led Enyimba to win both the league and the CAF Champions League in 2003 and he said he is confident he can lead the team to glory once more.
“Surely, I am glad with our performance against Rangers (on Sunday) that has seen us leaving with one point, but we actually came here to get the maximum points. We are on track to ending the season on top of the table,” Ikhana told AfricanFootball.com after his club forced a 1-1 draw at Rangers.
“We can lift the trophy at the end of season. That is my target. We are not talking about finishing in the top three, but emerging champions of the Nigerian league again.”
Enyimba are now seventh on the table with 33 points, four points behind league leaders Kano Pillars.
They take on Warri Wolves at home last Wednesday.
“The three points are not negotiable. With the total support we are getting from our fans, there will be no hiding place for Warri Wolves,” declared Ikhana.
On Sunday, Enyimba came from behind to earn a valuable draw on the road against regional rivals Rangers.
Rangers shot into the lead on five minutes with a well-struck free kick from about 25 yards taken by Chidi Edeh, who has been playing in the Indian league.
But former Rangers left-back Uwadiegwu Ugwu curled in the equaliser from a corner kick on 23 minutes.
