Council Boss Assures On People-Oriented Programmes
The Chairman of Omuma Local
Government Area, Hon Emeka Nwogu says his administration is focused on a five-point agenda such as reconstruction of Owaza-Eberi road, of Umukamanu and Ariramiri Primary Schools, empowerment of the people and the-re-activation of bore-holes.
Disclosing this to various groups that paid him courtesy visits in his office at the Council Secretariat, Eberi recently, Hon Nwogu said, already, work had begun on Owaza-Eberi road, stating that the laying of the stone base or 050 had been completed and that, by the next two weeks, asphalting would begin.
He hinted that his consultations with the Commissioner of Health, Dr Sampson Parker and the management of the health Management Board had yielded positive result as it had been agreed that the board would soon post doctors and nurses to the General Hospital while the dilapidated buildings and other facilities would be reactivated.
The Omuma local government boss said, during his “meet-the-people” tour of the LGA, he observed that rain storm de-roofed Umukamanu and Ariramiri Primary School buildings which caused the pupils to learn under trees, stating that the council would begin the renovation of the buildings next week.
Hon Nwogu further noted that his administration would also embark on the re-activation of public bore-holes which had become non-functional for some years now.
He further said that, inspite of the meager revenue and heavy wage bill, the council was the only one in the state that paid electricity bills for all households in the area, adding that he inherited an arrears of N1.3 million and had already paid N1 million. Hon Nwogu further noted that empowerment programme had already started in the form of political appointments, adding that he had already appointed over 50 persons into various political positions and that about 300 persons would be appointed into various committees, noting that several other people in the LGA would be empowered in other programmes of the council.
In their separate speeches, the Paramount Ruler of Omuma land, His Royal Highness, Eze Monday Ojiegbe, the Omuma chapter Chairman of the Rivers State Leadership Advancement Foundation (RIVLEAF), Mr Lawrence Ogbueri, the Chairman of Etche Ethnic Practising Journalists Association, Mr Chris Oluo, the Omuma branch Chairman of Nigeria Union of Pensioners, Evangelist Gilbert NweKe And The Leader Of Fadama Delegation To The Council Chairman, Mr Kingsley Amadi, congratulating Hon Nwogu for his appointment and commended him for making the council lively again, empowering the people and by embarking on huge projects within this short period he had been in office, pledging their support for his administration and appealing for his assistance to their organisations.
