Congress To Shift NFF Elections
The Nigeria Football federation, (NFF) congress next week Tuesday in Warri is expected to announce a new date for elections into the executive committee of the federation, AfricanFootball.
The NFF elections were billed for August 26.
Both the NFF executive committee and the country’s sports minister have kicked against the total lack of transparency that bedeviled the electoral process that at a time produced only one candidate for the NFF presidency.
Staff of both the NFF and the sports ministry made away with nomination forms to deny a majority of interested persons from vying for positions on the executive committee.
“A situation where a gang of charlatans and desperate jobless people have hijacked the electoral process for their selfish ends is not acceptable,” a top official further declared.
Tidesports learnt that the NFF general assembly at the Brownhill Events Centre in Warri on Tuesday will fully address these shortcomings by ordering for a more open and transparent process to allow all those interested in serving the country’s football to come forward.
