The National President
of a non-governmental organisation in Rivers State, the Ogoni Peoples’ Voice, Evangelist Christopher Koyari N-uedume has justified the need for the Ogoni ethnic nationality to produce the next governor of Rivers State.
The missionary who spoke with our correspondent at the Muritala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA 2) on his way to Port Harcourt, noted that since the creation of old Rivers State, no Ogoniman had occupied the number one seat in the oil rich producing state, adding that it would be selfish and ridiculous for the Rivers East and Rivers West Senatorial Districts to contest the governorship slot with the South East Senatorial District, most especially the Ogoni extraction in 2015.
“Nobody can come out to say that the Ogoni extraction has produced a governor despite the sacrifice made by the Ogoni ethnic group for the emancipation of the Niger Delta from mental slavery”, he said.
Evangelist N-uedume urged for a God-fearing and credible candidate from Ogoni to take over from the incumbent governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi in 2015.
He lauded the various reforms initiated by Amaechi’s administration in the area of education, health, road construction and social infrastructure, calling on the next government to build on the legacy.
