The Independent
National Electoral Commission (INEC), has  been commended for conducting  peaceful, acceptable, free and fair governorship election in Osun state over the weekend.
A chieftain of the All Progressive Congress (APC), in Enugu state, General Joseph Okoloagu  (rtd.) made the commendation in Enugu  while reacting to the result of the election in which the incumbent governor, Aregbesola  Rauf , was duly  returned as governor of the state by INEC.
General Okoloagu expressed satisfaction that the people of Osun state  were given the freedom to exercise their franchise which enabled them to vote according to their consciences.
He, therefore, urged INEC to replicate same conduct of credible elections in the 2015 general elections.
The APC chieftain further stressed that Nigerian voters are now wiser   to vote for the best candidates that would satisfy the yearnings of the masses, not minding the political party the candidates concerned belong.
His words:  ”In 2015, the electorates will vote for the best candidates that will represent them well and not for the party”.
Also commenting on the victory of the incumbent governor Aregbesola, General Okoloagu,  said he was not surprised over his victory at the poll because he performed creditably well during his first tenure in office.
Describing the just concluded Osun state governorship election as “free and fair”, he further reasoned that “If credible elections are conducted in Nigeria come 2015, the right candidates will always emerge winners irrespective of the political party they represent”, he stressed.
