The Chairman, Community Development Committee in Ozuoba Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, Hon. Ben Orlu has said that Akpor Kingdom would not tolerate any attempt by the Minister of State for Education, Barr Nyesom Wike to sow seed of discord in the area aimed at scoring cheap political point.
Orlu stated this in Ozuoba while reacting to the alleged attack on the Akpor royal stool by the minister of state for education.
He described Akpor royal stool as highly revered by its people and as such could not be allowed to be insulted by politicians like Wike, adding that desperation for political power must be checkmated by the people.
The CDC Chairman urged Wike to tread with caution in his crave for political power, saying that arrogance and reckless speeches could mar his political career.
According to Orlu, politics should not be seen as a do or die affair or a means to end but a process through which decorum is established.
Orlu reminded the minister of his failed pledges to the people of Akpor Kingdom during his reign as council chairman, saying that the Kingdom was still expecting the redemption of 200 bags of cement pledge by Wike.
The Community leader frowned at the continued balkanization of communities particularly Akpor Kingdom into factions by Wike, which he said would not be tolerated.
The CDC Chairman thanked Governor Chibuike Amaechi for his purposeful leadership in the state, promising to continue to support him, especially now that he had elevated the Akpor stool to long over due first class position.
He recalled with dismay the attitude of the First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan in her last visit to Akpor Kingdom, during which she deliberately defied protocol by not paying homage to the paramount leader, Eze Anele Oriebe.
Orlu said that such attitude was inimical to peace and development, which the First Lady claimed to be propagating.
The CDC Chairman expressed shock over Mrs Jonathan’s partisanship in the politics of Rivers, which he described as not only debasing but a show of total disconnect with the people.
He, however, condemned  the rebellious attitude of member representing Obio/Akpor 11 Constituency in the State house of Assembly, urged Akpor people to continue to support the governor in spite of Hon. Michael Chinda’s actions against the governor, which he noted had slowed the pace of government’s development drive in Akpor.
