A cocoa farmer, Mr.
Jasper Umor, has said that the Agricultural Development Programmes set up across some of the local government areas are unfunctional.
Umor, who made this know to The Tide in Abua said in the past,  extension officers were dispatched to the LGAs to assist  local farmers in modern  farming method.
According to him, his observation was there for  every one to see even as he said there was no need for visiting any of them across the state for information.
He said over the years, he decided  to depend  on the experience  he acquired in cocoa cultivation rather than putting his hope  on the ADPs.
He said  he went  to Ahoada for information on several occasions  but no staff was on ground to attend  to him.
He said apart from children and relations of staff who occupy  the buildings, nobody was on ground to attend to him.
However, when our correspondent visited the ADP office at Ahoada located  on Omuku road, a source  said most of the staff were retired of dead.
The source who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the officers in charge where either in Port Harcourt, adding that the place merely existed  on paper.
Our correspondent observed  that some of the buildings on the ADP site were  dilapidated  even as the grounds  were over grown with weed.
However,  few farms adorn  the area indicating that some staff still reside within the premises.
