..Slams Officiating At W/Cup
Stephen Keshi has
slammed the poor officiating that characterized the game in Nigeria’s 2-0 loss to France.
Keshi was unhappy with Emenike’s 19th minute goal which was ruled out for offside despite replays showing that the goal could have been legitimate.
The Big Boss was especially critical of the lack of protection for his players from the American referee Mark Geiger, as Nigerian players were constantly harassed on the pitch, with Ogenyi Onazi suffering the most as he had to be stretchered off after coming down from a heavy tackle by Blaise Matuidi.
“On two occasions Onazi received very bad tackles and nothing was done about it. He is out now probably for weeks.
“This is the first time I’ve spoken about the referee in my life, because it wasn’t good. There is nothing I can do about that, he was the Alpha and Omega at that point in time,” Keshi said.
Nigeria bowed out of the World Cup in Brazil courtesy of a late goal by Paul Pogba and an own-goal from Nigeria’s now retired captain, Joseph Yobo.
