Shell Supervisor Wants Stiffer Penalty For Rapists

A supervisor in the
Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC), Mr Evans Nduka, has advocated for a stiffer punishment for rapists, saying that offenders should be prosecuted and imprisoned to serve as a deterrent to others.
Speaking as chairman at a birth day ceremony in honour of Miss Gift Ezike who clocked 26 years last Sunday  in Port Harcourt, Mr Nduka stressed the need for young girls to leave a responsible life.
Decrying the increasing rate of rape incidents in the society, he said that the recent occurrence in Port Harcourt where fifteen boys raped a sixteen years-old-girl  was condemnable, pointing out that the culprits deserve punishment.
Mr Nduka who described the celebrant as a good and responsible girl with impressive manners advised her to maintain the kind of lifestyle in order to attract a responsible man for marriage, noting that most girls are not married because of their bad behaviours.
He said the check and campaign against indecent dressing by young girls should be intensified since as he puts it, “such manner of dressing attract evil actions by evil men”.
In her vote of thanks, Miss Gift Ezike, the celebrant expressed gratitude to God for guarding her life and enjoined fellow young girls to engage themselves in meaningful  ventures and feel contented with what they  have.
