A total of 1,040 people
from Oyigbo in Oyigbo Local Government Area of Rivers State have benefitted from a special empowerment programme by Senator Magnus Abe
Senator Abe, member representing the Rivers South-East Senatorial District in the National Assembly recently took delivery of 40 motorcycles and 1000 wrappers to women in the 10 wards in Oyigbo.
Speaking at a brief ceremony held at the Oyigbo council headquarters, Abe said the gesture was to appreciate the people that voted for him, explaining that it was not a constituency project.
He said, “What I am doing here is not constituency project, it is between me and my people that voted for me. My constituency project is a school that is being built here in Oyigbo. Another constituency project is another school that is built in Sogho, in Khana Local Government.
“Another constituency project is a building that I am building for the University of Port Harcourt and the other constituency project that I have nominated is for offices at the Rivers State University of Science and Technology, RSUST. Those are things that are funded by government.
“The rest of things that I am doing are things between me and the people who have elected me.”
The senator who is the Chairman, Senate Committee on Downstream Sector, also said he visited Oyigbo to support the All Progressives Congress (APC), saying, the message of the party must be taken to every house, every church and farm where our people gather.”
