Rotary Club Pledges ENT Surgical Equipment T o BMSH …As The Tide, Others Get Award

Harcourt District 9140 has promised to support the Braithwaite Memorial Specialist Hospital (BMSH), Port Harcourt with the Procurement of ear and throat operation equipment.
The new president of the club, Rotarian Frank Eni who disclosed this in an interview with newsmen shortly after his induction at the weekend also promised the renovation of some buildings at the Trans Amadi police station to solve the accommodation problem of the division.
Rotarian Eni also said that a programme that will address the health of mothers and children will be instituted, noting that infant mortality will be a major area of concern and incubators will be provided for the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital and Braithwaite Memorial Hospital all in Port Harcourt.
“As we have been doing over the years, we shall continue to create awareness on HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, Hypertension and Breast Cancer.
“Polio immunization will be given special attention” he said.
The Club President further said that potable water and sanitation facilities will be provided to communities and schools especially in the rural communities.
Other programmes include, the provision of books and equipment for secondary schools and adult literary centres as well as sponsor computer literary programme in schools across the state.
According to the club’s president, the goal is to strengthen the capacity of communities to support basic education and literacy as well as reduce gender disparity in education and increase adult literacy and commended members for the confidence reposed on him and his team, promising not to disappoint.
Earlier, the out gone President of the club, Rotarian Chidi Ikeji listed some achievements of the out gone executive to include, the Presentation of Bursary Awards to physically challenged students of Chesire home, sponsorship of 20 youths for computer training as well as the expansion of its micro credit scheme with an additional micro credit scheme.
The event also featured the presentation of community service awards to some distinguished personalities and four media houses in the state namely Rivers Newspaper Corporation (RSNC) Rythem 93.7, Garden City Radio and the Rivers State Television (RSTV)
