Head Coach of
Rivers Angles Football Club of Port Harcourt, Edwin Okon has said that the team is set to defend the Federation Cup title.
Okon stated this shortly after Rivers Angels defeated Bayelsa Queens 2-1 in the quarter final match of the ongoing Federation Cup played at Ondo State Sports Complex, Akure.
He explained that the team considers every match as important as others and debunked the allegation that he boasted of demolishing BayesaQueens.
“We are the defending champions and our expectation is to win the Federation Cup and retain the title in subsequent editions, he said”.
Meanwhile, gabriella Ndengue opened the game with 23rd minute goal for the Queens, while the Angels Sherifat Saheed Pass was dummied by some oragbuam, allowing Lola Phillips to bring the ball home at the 39th minute of play.
However, the Angels Mercy Amaneze, fired home the winning goal from outside the penalty box at the 74th minute, after a sustained period of pressure.
Rivers Angles will now face Sunshine Queens FC of Akure in the semi-finals.
It would be recalled that Sunshine Queen edged out Edo Queens in their quarter final tie in Abuja.
