Property development
in Port Harcourt and its environs has started slowing down due to  the seriousness of the rainy season.
The Tide’s findings revealed that the rate of development compared to the previous months has remarkably reduced in some of the project sites within the Rumuekini and Rumuosi area of Akpor Kingdom.
It was also observed that some of these places have been taken over by stagnant water which has posed some obstacle to the movement of building materials to the site.
A building material dealer and sand supplier within the Akpor community Justus Amadi told The Tide that their business was just like a seasonal business, which flourishes during the dry season and go down during the rainy season .
He said that the setting of the rain has considerably slowed down business, adding that such has affected his income making his family to now rely on his wife’s business for survival.
On her part, Mrs Ozioma Dike, who is also a sand supplier said that she now has more time to stay at home because some of her customers no longer place order.
Dike, who resides at Rumuaholu community near Rumuokoro said that she could hardly be seen at home when the season is booming for their business.
On how she copes with the dull season, Mrs Dike said that she engages herself in some petty trading to keep body and soul together.
