clubs have struggled in the first round of the 2014 Federation Cup as a fair number of them have either been knocked out or struggled to advance.

Akwa United of Uyo were also knocked out by FC Abuja. Sunshine Stars lost narrowly to Bendel Insurance, while Gombe United were upset by Baton FC of Owerri.
Fate dealt Kaduna United a cruel blow as they arrived late at the match venue in Kastina-Ala, only to discover they had been walked over.
Heartland, Sharks FC and Crown required penalties to advance at the expense of Ebonyi United, Kwara United and Bright STARS respectively.
