Police Arraign 26 For Contempt Of Court

lice Command has arraigned 26 persons before the Magistrates Court for two count charge of conducting themselves in a manner likely to cause a breach of peace by disobeying a court order.
The prosecutor said the offence was punishable under section 249(d) of the Criminal Code Cap “C38” Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004, as applicable to Imo State.
In a charge sheet No. Ow/336C/2014 brought before Chief Magistrate Court 1, Mrs. V.C. Isiguzo, between the Commissioner of Police verses Chizoba Okafor and 25 others, the Prosecutor said that the accused persons disobeyed a high court order restraining the parties in Suit No. HOW/51/2014 between Emmanuel Chukwu and Quest Resources Consult Ltd and three others by entering on a land located within New Owerri being workers of Quest Resources Consult Ltd.
Granting bail to the accused persons on the tune of N200,000 each and one surety, the Chief magistrate warned against further committing contempt of the court as the case was adjourned to July 16, 2014 for further determination of the case.
