Pillars Crash Out Of Federation Cup
Kano Pillars suffered a
massive upset as they were dumped out of the Federation Cup after losing 2-1 to Gateway FC in a Round of 64 game.
Despite taking an early lead, the reigning Glo Premier League champions lost to the Ogun State-owned club who competed in the second-tier Nigeria National League (NNL).
Francis Olarenwaju capitalised on poor defending from Pillars to equalise for Gateway, before Opeoluwa Oluwafemi scored in the 84th minute to seal a win for the youthful side inside the Confluence Stadium in Lokoja.
Pillars tried to make a late rally, but the Abeokuta-based team held on in the final minutes to record the historic win.
