Omagwa Hails Amaechi For Elevating Monarch
Following the recognition of
Omagwa as an autonomous community and the elevation of its chieftaincy stool to first class, the people of Omagwa have pledged total support to the state governor, Rt. Hon Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi.
Speaking at the palace square, Omagwa, in Ikwerre Local Government Area of the state, the paramount ruler, HRM Eze Jacob Orji described Governor Amaechi as a man sent by God to end the cries of the Omagwa people.
According to him, Omagwa community was an autonomous area, during the colonial era, noting that his great grandfather, Eze Ishmael Igbowodo was a second class traditional ruler in 1901.
He said, the chieftaincy structure was bastardised when Rivers State was created in 1967, adding that in 1967, Omagwa was joined with three other communities in Ikwerre Local Government Area to be known as “four-towns,” inspite of several reports and calls for autonomy for Omagwa, no government, military and civilian, deems it necessary to do what Governor Amaechi had done in the life of the community.
Orji, who commended Governor Amaechi’s administration, pledged his community’s unalloyed support to his administration always.
Eze Orji also assured of good governance, and level ground to discharge his duties without fair or favour.
“I urged you, the people of Omagwa community to join me and support Governor Amaechi, whom God has sent to deliver the people of this community. “This is what we have been yearning for years, which no government, both military and civilians deemed it necessary to do, Governor Amaechi is a God’s sent to us, you should support him to any length,” he said.
Also speaking with The Tide, the chairman of the Council of Chiefs and the chairman of the Community Development Committee (CIDC) of Omagwa, High Chief Bright K. Kpaluku and Justice Joe respectively affirms the community supports to Governor Amaechi, saying that, no divisible elements could separate the community from the governor, despite the political challenges in the state.
High Chief Kpaluka who noted that Omagwa people have been denied what belongs them for years, said the recognition of the community as autonomous and the elevation of the community’s stool to first class would go a long way to strengthen the community’s relationship with Governor Amaechi even after his tenure. Kpalika restated the council of Chiefs support to Eze Orji and Governor Amaech’s and advised the monarch to caution corporate bodies in their relationship with the people.
