Osaze Odemwingie has
joined the list of players who are considering retirement from the Nigerian national team.
After being left out of the side for over a year, the 32-year-old recently made a return and scored Nigeria’s winning goal against Bosnia-Herzegovina in the ongoing 2014 FIFA World Cup.
But the Stoke City forward has revealed that he may have to consider his future in international football.
“Sometimes you just feel like you’ve come a circle and I don’t know whether I’ll play on for Nigeria,” he told Tidesports.
“I am committed to the country’s cause. Right now I’m not too sure. It might be but it might not.
“You need to be honest with yourself and your country. There are few people I need to talk to because I can’t be selfish.
“Nigeria has always meant everything to me. Despite everything I’ve been through, wearing the national colours has definitely been one the highlights of my career.”
With the retirement of Joseph Yobo already confirmed, Odemwingie, who has won 67 caps for the Super Eagles, joins goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama in the list of experienced players whose future in the national team remains in doubt.
