NFF Meets, To Decide On Keshi, Others

The executive committee of
the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) will meet in Abuja tomorrow to deliberate on whether or not they will give coach Stephen Keshi a new contract after his initial contract ran out with the World Cup in Brazil.
According to an official press statement, there is an urgent need to decide on a coach for the country’s team as the qualifying tournament for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations will begin in September.
Last year, Keshi led Nigeria to win a third Nations Cup and qualify the country to the 2014 World Cup, where they reached the last 16.
Among other issues for discussion by the 13-member committee is a review Nigeria’s participation in the recently–concluded 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, appraise the preparation of the U20 Women’s team, The Falconets, for the U20 Women’s World Cup in Canada next month and also deliberate on Nigeria’s participation in the qualifying series for the 2015 African U17 and African U20 Championships.
They will equally deliberate on the preparation of the senior women’s team, the Super Falcons, for the 9th African Women’s Championship in Namibia in October.
There will also be talk on the 2014 Annual General Assembly of the Federation, which is the elective congress, set for next month as well as the grand finale of this year’s men and women’s Federation Cup competitions, tentatively slated for Lagos on Saturday, August 16.
