Man Kills Widow, Commits Suicide

lice Command has confirmed the killing of Priscilla Orlumene, 65 year old widow by her late husband’s uncle, Mr Ikechi Orlumene, who later committed suicide at Rumuakunde village in Emohua Local Government Area of the State.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr Mohammed Ahmed, who confirmed the incident to The Tide in Port Harcourt, said the tragedy happened in the early hours of Sunday, July 20, 2014 at about 7:30 at Orlumene’s Compound in the community, where both of them where living together.
He said the police was on top of the situation, as various investigation, as already put in place to unveiled the cause of the incident.
An eye witness, one Mr John Ordy Edwin explained that, Mr Ikechi Orluwene popularly known as I.K was seen in the morning hours going towards the house of his uncle’s wife, a mood very difficult to described, as he ignored all questions on his way to the widow’s house.
Edwin said that the public was alerted, following the woman’s shout for help as she was running from her assailant’s nefarious action.
According to the eye witness, all effort to bring her back to life proved abortive as the woman fell head long with killer-pushing her to the wall before fled back to his house, where he later killed himself at about two and three hours interval from when the woman finally give up to dead.
The Tide confirmed that until Mr Ikechi was confirmed dead, no body knows his provocation, and why he killed the uncle’s wife and himself. The eye witness also disclosed that, a 37 year old man was also injured when he tried to arrest the killer, as he was fleeing the crime scene with blood machete.
The remains of the woman was buried same day according to the family- tradition while the remains of Ikechi Orlumene was said to have been thrown into evil forest according to tradition.
