Man Bags Four Months Jail For Handbag Theft

An Upper Area Court in
Zuba, FCT, last Thursday sentenced a scavenger, Bashir Isah, 21,  of Dutse Alhaji-Abuja to four months in prison for snatching a woman’s handbag.
The Presiding Judge, Malam Aminu Sa’ad, passed the judgment after Isah pleaded guilty to the one-count charge of theft preferred against him.
Sa’ad, however, gave the convict the option of paying N20, 000 in fine.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Cpl. Arziki Kaura, told the court that on June 24, Cpl. Suleiman Umar attached to Motor-Traffic Department of Dutse Alhaji Police Station arrested Isah and brought him to the station.
Kaura said that the arrest was affected after Isah committed the offence at Dutse Alhaji first gate on the date he was arrested.
The prosecutor further told the court that during police interrogation, the convict gave a confessional statement admitting his crime.
