Joint Health Workers Issue RSG 7-Day Ultimatum

Workers union in the 23 local government areas of Rivers State has issued a 7-day ultimatum to the state government to meet its demands or face industrial action.
In a communiqué released in Port Harcourt to newsmen signed by the state chairman of the union in the 23 local government areas of the state, Comrade Rueben Nwuche said the ultimatum became imperative after the failure of the government to implement the union’s demands.
Nwuche said the union wants the state government to immediately implement consolidated salary structure for the union members in the 23 local government areas of the state from this month of July.
He said the union also want the immediate payment of salary arrears amounting to N261 million owed the workers over the years.
The union also wants the immediate release of the promotion interview results of the senior staff conducted and yet to e released by 23 local government councils except Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Area.
The union’s communiqué also demanded for the issuance of appraisal forms for the commencement of promotion interview for the staff due for promotion this year.
Nwuche said the union would not stop at anything to ensure that the backlog of N38 million unpaid allowance released for immediate payment to members of the union in the state.
He said the union was prepared to cripple services in the public health sector at the grassroot if the state fails to meet the union’s demands before the expiration of the ultimatum.
