Igbo Title Holders Begin Sensitisation For 2015

Association, Rivers State Chapter has declared that Igbos would participate actively in enthroning the political leadership in Rivers State in the 2015 general election.
Speaking at the weekend, shortly after emerging as president of the Igbo Title Holders Association, Rivers State in a keenly contested election, Chief Uchenna Okokoba, stated his resolve to mobilise Igbos to take effective part in the voters registration exercise in the state in order to be in good stead for the political activities next year.
According to Chief Okokoba the Agudindu I of Nanka, Igbos were in the majority among non indigenes in the state and have vast investments which should make them to care about the well-being of the state.
He said, many Igbos travel home during voter registration exercise advising that nobody would travel this time around. “We’ll be here and make sure we register in order to take active part in the political equation,” he said.
The president urged Igbos not to allow anybody to use them in the state in this political era stating that they should watch their leaders to know the direction they would be going, so that they can help vote in a party and candidate that would satisfy their yearnings and protect tier interests.
Okokoba, who is also the co-ordinator of non-indigenes for the All Progressives Congress Party (APC), described the Title holders association as a non-political and non-governmental organisation that is dedicated to the welfare and progress of all Igbos in Rivers State, noting that his political bias would not affect his leadership of the association and used the opportunity to extend his gratitude to t he governor of the state, Rt Hon Chibuike Amaechi.
“Let me use this opportunity to thank Governor Amaechi for what he has been doing, especially, the certificate of ownership, C of O, he has been issuing, we know that Igbos have huge investments, especially landed property in the state,” he said.
In the Title-holders election at the weekend, Chief Okokoba defeated Chief David Anoliefo by 49 votes to two to emerge president.
