Health Workers RVHA To Investigate Delay Of Appointment Letters

The Rivers State House of
Assembly is to investigate why some works of the Rivers State Hospital Management Board (RSHMB) who were employed in 2009 were not given appointment letters.
The speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Otelemaba Dan Amachree who stated this during Monday plenary session when the House received a petition from some staff of the Rivers State Hospital Management Board over the refusal of the Rivers State Civil Service Commission to issue them appointment letters since 2009 when they were employed.
While reading the petition in the Floor of the House, the Chairman, House Committee on Hospital, Hon. Irene M. Iningba representing Port Harcourt Constituency II, said the staff were employed in November, 2009 and have not been issued letter of employment.
The petition signed by Soka Margret, Adoka Grace and Emmanuel Etow-Awaji said they had written severally to the Rivers State Civil Service Commission to legalize their employment by issuing them appointment leter but all to no avail.
They workers who claimed to have been working in several Hospitals across the state pleaded that the House should intervene and order the authority concern to make their appointment legal.
According to them, “without letter of appointment, their stay as workers under the Hospital Management Board look illegal even though they get their salaries.
