Some stakeholders in
Rivers State under the aegis of Rivers Ethics and Conducts Group (RECOG), have called on all political parties in the State to allow Andoni-Opobo /Nkoro Constituency produce the next governor of the state.
This, according to the group, would resolve the governorship tussle between the riverine and Rivers South-East Senatorial District.
The group made its position known after a close door meeting in Port Harcourt, yesterday.
According to the group’s Chairman, Mr Bipelle Omoron, Andoni and Opobo/Nkoro share boundaries with both riverine area and Rivers South East.
Mr Omoron noted that, since the creation of the state in 1967, power has been rotating between the upland and riverine areas and not by ethnic  nationalities, saying, the group would only support the rotation of power between the natural upland and riverine areas or among the three senatorial districts in the state
He stressed the need for the next governor to come from the riverine, saying the upland had already produced three governors within the last 16 years.
