GDI Treasurer, Others Dump PDP For APC

The Treasurer of the Grassroots Democratic Initiative (GDI) in Rundele in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State, Mr. Wisdom D.K. Weli and ten members of the group have defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Mr. Weli and other told a mammoth crowd during the ward seven meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) that they dumped the GDI which is a socio-political organ of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State because of the alleged governorship ambition of the Minister of State for Education, Barrister Nyesom Wike.
Meanwhile the people of Rundele have reaffirmed their support for the Rivers State Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi and the leadership of the APC in the state.
The leader of Rundele Political Forum, Hon. Lucky Worluh who disclosed this to newsmen at the end of a meeting in the area said the support for Governor Amaechi by the people was total and irrevocable.
Hon. Worluh who is also a board member of the Rivers State Universal Basic Education (UBE) said the meeting was to assess the progress of the party so far in the area with a view to moving ahead as well as mobilising the people for the forthcoming voters registration exercise in the State.
Also speaking, the Special Adviser to the Rivers State Governor on Information, Communication and Technology (ICT), Mr. Goodlife Nmekini warned politicians in the area against violence, stressing that Rundele has a culture that abhors violence.
Mr. Nmekini said that the people were not against any of their sons/ daughters belonging to any political party, but warned that such development must never lead to crisis in the community.
Also speaking, the ward seven Chairman of the APC, Mr. Churchill Agbovu thanked the party for finding them worthy to serve the community, assuring that they would not disappoint.
Mr. Agbovu said that Rundele has the highest registered members of APC in Emohua and urged them to ensure massive participation in the forth-coming voters registration exercise in the state.
