FRSC Certifies NURTW’s Driving School
The National Union of
Road Transport Workers’ Driving School has received the certification of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC).
The union’s National President, Alhaji Najeem Yasin, told newsmen in Abuja that the school would boost the driving skills of members and improve transport business across the country.
Yasin said Adamawa, Ogun and Zamfara states had been chosen as the three pilots’ states for the establishment of the driving schools.
“Effort is ongoing to obtain the certification of the Zamfara State Driving School as well as the commissioning but that of Adamawa has been stalled due to insecurity in the area’’.
Yasin said that the driving school would expose the members to the dangers associated with defensive driving and create the opportunity for training and retraining of the members.
The Tide reports that the NURTW’s Driving School located in Abeokuta, Ogun State, certified by the FRSC was inaugurated on June 4, 2014. The school comprises of four classrooms, administrative offices, a pit for practical mechanical lessons and sufficient fields for driving test
On education of members, the union boss said that the union had sponsored members to acquire higher certificate at the National Open University of Nigeria
He said that the union had paid the tuition fees of selected officers and members who registered with the university. “We have paid tuition fees on behalf of all officers and members who registered with the university.
“The welfare of our staff and members remains a fundamental index in this administration. Yasin said the union was going through a rebranding process in order to meet up with the challenges of globalisation and day-to-day living.
