Enyimba midfielder
Kingsley Sokari is excited by his surprise call-up to the Under-20 national team by Manu Garba.
The player told his club’s official that he was both shocked and delighted by the development, as he never contemplated a look-in from the Flying Eagles team selectors.
“It was a surprise for me because I was not expecting it at all. It was after our Round of 64 game in Abuja [which Enyimba defeated Sokoto North 3-1] that I got a call from the Team Secretary,” he explained to EnyimbaFC.net
“I scored a goal in that game and we won so when I got to the hotel and the call came in, it was very surprising and delightful at the same time because every player wants to play for his national team.”
Sokari added that he aspires to represent the country at any level internationally, and promised to make the most of the opportunity currently on offer.
“My prayer to God is to be given the opportunity to play for Nigeria at any level I am needed so I will do my best to make sure I don’t let the U-20 team down by the time I get to the camp,” the player who has been likened to Andreas Iniesta said.
“I hear that the only thing needed to finalize my invitation is for them [the Flying Eagles] to contact Enyimba. Hopefully that will be done soon and I can honour the invitation.”
