The Movement for the
Survival Of Ogoni People (MOSOP) says it will not rest until the Federal Government declares Ogoni an ecological disaster zone.
The president of the movement, Mr Legborsi Pyagbara who said this in a telephone interview with The Tide  in Port Harcourt said that the declaration of Ogoni as an ecological disaster zone will attract the support of international agencies.
Pyagbara also said that research carried out by the movement and other organisation have shown a serious threat to the biodiversity of Ogoniland.
According to him, if nothing is done on the situation, the Ogoni as a people may disappear from history.
He said that the pollution of the Ogoni environment has affected their water sources, stressing that the Ogoni people are dying daily as a result of polluted water.
On the United Nations Environment (UNEP) report on Ogoniland, the MOSOP president said that the report demands full implementation stating that the report says that 25 to 30 years are required for total cleanup of Ogoni.
Meanwhile, committees to coordinate the planned massive protest by MOSOP in Abuja have been setup.
The movement president, Mr Legborsi Pyagbara told The Tide that the proposed protest is not only against the non implementation of the UNEP report, but on the general discrimination against the Ogoni in Nigeria.
