Commissioner Assures On Relocation Of Sports Commission

Commissioner of Sports Hon Fred Igwe, has said that the Rivers State Sports, Council would fully relocate its athletes and personnel to the Chief Adokiye Amiesimaka Centre when ongoing work is completed in the main bowl of the stadium.
The Commissioner said this while inspecting work at the stadium last Wednesday.
Hon Igwe, who was accompanied by the Director of the Rivers State Sports Council, Sir Daubu Harry, said, presently, unlimited access is given to the state athletes for consistent training as they prepare for the 19th National Sports Festival, Paradise Games in Calabar in November, this year.
“All the facilities apart from the main bowl in the sports centre is open to the sports council.
“This is to make certain, our athletes are well exposed and used to international  sports facilities provided by the State Governor, Rt Hon Chibuike Amaechi to excel in any sporting environment.
“When the 38 thousand seating capacity main bowl is completed, the State Sports Council will move here to enable easy access to facilities.
Subsequently, the Ministry of Sports may also move in to continue administrative work from the centre.
He said, Team Rivers which just concluded one of its camping in preparation for the National Sports Festival also referred to as Centenary Games will stand out as winners always.
