Commissioner Advises Council On Due Process

sioner for Local Government Affairs, Mr Samuel Eyiba has called for strict adherence to due process in the handling of government business.
He made the call during his visit to the Head Quarters of Ahoada East Local Government Area, Ahoada.
Eyiba noted that since government was the nucleus of every society, it is pertinent to handle all its affairs with utmost care.
The commissioner who was reacting to the reckless attitude of handling government’s business in the LGA by past administration, said due process must be followed if those at the local government levels want to have it right. He wondered why anybody would embark on any public project without consulting with those working with him.
He warned that records should be kept straight in order to discourage what he tagged laxity among government workers, emphasizing that government’s business was not personal estate and should be given best regard that would protect it against such views.
“We must not conduct government’s business as personal, and it is key for us to follow due process, because, if due process is not followed, workers have failed,” he said.
He urged the Local Government Council to pay more attention to birth, death and marriage registration, saying that vital issues of the LG administration must be taken care of. While commending the caretaker committee chairman of the council (Ahoada East), Chief AndyNweye for the ban of Okada in the area, he urged him to endeavor to live remarkable landmarks in the nearest future.
Earlier, Chief Andy Nweye announced that the LGA has recorded up to N8million as its internally generated revenue after barely one month in office and lauded the commissioner for his administrative prowess.
